Toll Global Express officially opens a new $25 million logistics hub in Wellington, Toll Global Express Aotea, that will service customers in Wellington and surrounding regions.

Toll Global Express Aotea is double the size of the previous facility and can process around 800,000 parcels, satchels and pallets a year.

Toll Global Express New Zealand Executive General Manager, Jon Adams said v Aotea will meet the growing demands of customers and consumers across Wellington.

“Our new Toll Aotea facility is double the size of the previous facility and means we can support the growth of our customers who service key industries across retail, construction, packaging and beverages.

“We’ll have close to 70 employees stationed at the facility, including drivers and warehouse workers, all committed to providing the best service to customers,” said Mr Adams.

The multi-modal facility is serviced by direct road, rail and InterIslander freight and plays a key role in Toll Global Express's New Zealand network; transhipping freight from regional branches to Auckland and Christchurch.

The site, which neighbours State Highway 1, is located in close proximity to Wellington City Centre and is adjacent to Centre Port Wellington.

The 8400 m² warehouse, which is around the size of rugby pitch, sits on approximately 18245 m² of land is double the size of the existing Wellington facility. The increased space has already led to efficiency increases and reduction in manual handling.

Toll Global Express Aotea incorporates the latest safety technology including a weigh bridge ensuring every truck leaving the site is compliant. Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD), the facility includes LED lighting, translucent sheeting to minimise light usage, adaptable lighting and mechanical controls to help drive down energy use.

Toll Global Express Aotea is part of a $185m investment in the New Zealand market, with over 300 construction jobs created throughout the project. Toll is also scheduled to officially open its flagship facility, Toll Global Express Tamaki in Auckland in two weeks.
