World Parcel Expert Ken Allen to join Toll Global Express

At our Town Hall yesterday, we were pleased to announce that Ken Allen, a world leader in transforming parcel businesses, will join the Global Express team as both an adviser to myself and will become a shareholder in the business.

Ken, currently the CEO of DHL eCommerce, will retire later this year, after 35 years leading different regions and businesses. Ken has had many successes, but he is renowned for leading the world transformation of DHL Express between 2009 to 2018, which is a global parcel business with revenues of €15 billion.

When Ken took the helm at DHL Express, the business had lost €2.2 billion. Within 3 years, he had returned the business to profitability, and after ten years, he left the business with profits of €2 billion, having transformed the business to be one of the world’s greatest     and most profitable transport businesses.

Ken’s philosophy for transforming businesses is simple, he believes the Customer comes first, you need to simplify and he shares the belief that your Employees are the key to your success. His book ‘Radical Simplicity’ is a guide to Ken’s strategy and success..

Yesterday, Ken shared that one of his proudest moments was recently when DHL Express was voted  the best place to work in the world!

Adrian, our Chair, and I are extremely honoured to have Ken join our team as an adviser to myself and as a shareholder. His rich international experience will be invaluable for us all as we transform our business.

It is six months since Allegro acquired Global Express; the return to growth and improving customer service is encouraging. But much more work is needed to ensure we have a strong sustainable future. I cannot think of anyone I would want more as a coach by my side than the world expert in building strong profitable parcel and logistic businesses, with customers and employees at the heart.

Ken will be flying to Australia in the coming weeks. I look forward to introducing him to many of you when he arrives. Please join me in welcoming Ken.

Stay Safe
Christine
